MONAGHAN-BASED Combilift expects a new multi-functional forklift to increase turnover by €10 million over the next year to €100 million.

The Combi-CB was showcased at an event at the firm's headquarters at Gallinagh, outside Monaghan town yesterday to mark its 10th anniversary. Co-founder and managing director Martin McVicar revealed that after two years of development and extensive trials, with over 100 of the units in operation, the Combi-CB has gone into serial production. Production of the new model will also create an additional 20 new jobs at the Monaghan plant.

Mr McVicar established Combilift in 1998 with Robert Moffett to produce the world's first engine-powered multi-directional forklift. The company has more than 9,000 units in operation, with capacities from 2.5 to 14 tonnes, in over 50 markets worldwide.

"Versatility has always been a hallmark of Combilift products, and this new Combi-CB is no exception," said Mr McVicar. He explained the latest unit is more compact than a traditional counterbalance forklift, has the added advantage of multi-directional operation, and is thereby ideal for customers who handle palletised goods and long-length products.
