For those readers who are already computer literate, and possess a computer, the latest camera from Sony means you'll never have to get your photographs processed again.

The Digital Mavica is a still-image camera that takes a standard computer disk instead of a film. The camera can take up to 40 shots, and store them on the diskette. It has a large colour viewfinder on the back, and aside from allowing you to line up your pictures, it also allows you to review what you have already snapped, and retake the ones you don't like.

Like the look of your girlfriend but not her mother? Well, even if they are sitting on the same couch in the same shot, you can use the viewfinder to crop the images as you go. Out goes the mother.

"Technically it's not as good as film, but it's pretty close," a spokesman for Sony says. "Perhaps a professional photographer would notice the difference, but for someone taking normal pictures, it's great."
