Alps Electric Ireland, a subsidiary of a Japanese company, has announced a £100,000 (€127,000) expansion of its keyboard printing facility at Millstreet in north Cork, writes Dick Hogan.

The expansion, a result of the company's decision to relocate work previously sub-contracted in Scotland, will lead to the creation of an additional 35 jobs.

The Millstreet operation began in 1988 and was expanded again in 1996. The company now employs some 376 people.
