In the Business This Week supplement in the editions of November 14th, an article stated that "An Post faces £65m suit in US". An Post says that this is incorrect.
Proceedings which have been instituted in the District Court for Massachusetts by Escher Group Limited concern a dispute over the ownership of certain intellectual property rights. We are satisfied that while earlier proceedings claimed monetary damages, those proceedings have by agreement been disposed of without prejudice.
The proceedings currently before the court do not claim a sum in damages but ask the court to determine ownership of the intellectual property rights and grant "such other relief as the court deems necessary and just". An Post states that the dispute could not affect, in any way, An Post's ability to operate the systems it currently uses to deliver social welfare and pension payments.
