Anglo Irish Bank paid €9.1 million to its directors last year up from €8.3 million in 2003.
The bank's outgoing chief executive, Mr Seán FitzPatrick, received the biggest payment, earning a total package worth €2.7 million. This included a €1.6 million bonus, a salary of €775,000 and pension contribution of €294,000. Mr FitzPatrick will retire from this post later this month.
Mr Tiarnan O'Mahoney, the bank's chief operations officer, who is to leave Anglo shortly, was the second highest paid executive, receiving a package of €1.7 million. His payment included a €1 million bonus, a salary of €458,000 and a €168,000 pension contribution.
Mr John Rowan, the head of its UK business, earned €1.5 million, including a €500,000 bonus and a salary of €412,000.
Finance director Mr Willie McAteer was paid €1.4 million, including a €500,000 bonus. Mr Tom Browne, head of the bank's wealth management division, received a total package of €913,000, including a salary of €218,000 and a bonus of €348,000.
Mr David Drumm, who headed the bank's US operations, is to succeed Mr FitzPatrick as chief executive but only joined the board of directors in September 2004. Since then he earned fees of €19,000.
Mr Peter Killen, who retired from the bank in February 2004, received €187,000.
Anglo's chairman, Mr Peter Murray, was paid €217,000. Among the non-executives, Mr Michael Jacob was paid €85,000, with others earning between €43,000 and €74,000 for their services to the bank.
The bank's annual report shows that Mr FitzPatrick holds 1.9 million Anglo shares which at yesterday's share price are worth more than €34 million. He holds a further 312,500 share options.
