Judgment is expected next week on the application by Ansbacher (Cayman) Ltd to the Cayman Island courts for permission to disclose the identity of its Irish clients. The five-day hearing ended on Wednesday and Mr Chief Justice Anthony Smellie reserved his judgment. It is expected he will make a ruling towards the end of next week. Three clients of the bank, including two companies connected with the former taoiseach Mr Charles Haughey, are objecting to the application which would allow Ansbacher break Cayman's banking secrecy laws. The bank is making the application in order to comply with a request from Irish High Court-appointed inspectors investigating Ansbacher.
