Jane Suiter has been appointed economics correspondent of The Irish Times. Ms Suiter has worked as an economics reporter with The Irish Times since January 1996. Previously she worked in Britain for Financial Times Magazines, Associated Press and contributed to various newspapers including the Wall Street Journal, Daily Telegraph, Mail on Sunday and London Independent.
A native of Dublin, she is a graduate in Economics and Politics from UCD. She will be responsible for economic coverage including Ireland's participation in economic and monetary union.
Barry O'Keeffe has been appointed to the new position of assistant business desk editor, in which he will assist in the editing of the Business This Week sections. He has worked as a reporter in the business section for four years. Prior to that, he worked as a sub-editor and as a reporter in the Working and Living and Education and Living supplements. A former participant in the Journalists in Europe programme in Paris, he began his career in the Nationalist & Leinster Times in Carlow.
