Staff at Bank of Ireland's phone banking operation, Banking 365, have voted for industrial action over the terms of the bank's offer on compensation for the euro changeover.

Irish Bank Officials Association assistant general secretary Mr John O'Connell accused the company of treating staff as "second-class employees" after they were offered less compensation for handling the transition to the new currency than colleagues elsewhere in the bank.

Industrial action is due to start on December 28th.
