The Bank of Scotland, which is trying to merge with mortgage bank Abbey National, said yesterday it was to raise around £193 million sterling (€302 million) in a placing to finance its purchase of ICC Bank.

Bank of Scotland also said operating results for the 10 months to 31st December, 2000, showed good progress.
