KMPG: Floated off management consultancy operation on the US market. Partners in the accountancy practice in Ireland and in the Americas own about 20 per cent of the company. The Internet technology equipment company Cisco Systems owns about 10 per cent and the management of the consultancy owns about 20 per cent.
Arthur Andersen: After acrimonious court arbitration, the management consultancy operation, Andersen Consulting, was set up as a separate company called Accenture. Flotation is one of the options being considered for the future. Partners in the accounting practice did not benefit.
Ernst and Young: Sold off consulting operation to Cap Gemini. Partners in the audit/ accounting operation got some shares in Cap Gemini Ernst & Young, which is quoted on the Paris Bourse.
PricewaterhouseCoopers: Tried to sell off consultancy operation to Hewlett-Packard. Fell through. Now considering other options. Deloitte and Touche: Intends to retain its management consultancy operation within the partnership. Believes in offering a "total and seamless" service to client and believes it can do this within the SEC rules.
