A Fine Gael private member's bill will be introduced to the Dail today to amend the Building Societies Act which fails to give equal rights to joint mortgage holders.

The Fine Gael TD, Mr John Browne, said the Government had agreed not to oppose the bill and urged independents to support it. He said inequalities arose from the discrepancy whereby building societies recognise the first signatory on the agreement for the purpose of share registers.
