Cablelink has signed a contract worth more than £300,000 with Oracle to use its software in the installation of a new customer database. It will be used to store information about the 350,000 households in Dublin, Waterford and Galway using Cablelink's cable television services. Cablelink has also chosen Cambridge Technology Partners to assist in the implementation of major IT projects.

Oracle's database software will help Cablelink market potential new services which have been facilitated by the arrival of digital TV. The cable industry will soon be able to deliver home shopping, video on demand, Web access and Internet communication.
