The Society of St Vincent de Paul was given £152,000 by Fidelity Investments following the collapse of the Tony Taylor group of investment companies, the society said in a press release yesterday.

When the Taylor group collapsed in 1996, it emerged that money which the society had been bequested had been invested with Mr Taylor but had not been properly invested by the broker. The Taylor group acted as an Irish agent for Fidelity prior to the group's collapse. The £152,000 was given to the charity "as a gesture of goodwill and in recognition of the loss the society suffered on the collapse of the Taylor group".
