Mr Alan Crosbie will resign as chief executive of Examiner Publications (Cork) Ltd. The company's head of advertising, Mr Padraig Mallon, will succeed him.
Mr Crosbie said yesterday he had spent eight years as chief executive and had indicated upon taking up the appointment that he would remain in the position no more than 10 years. He felt it was an opportune time to hand over to someone else; but his intention was to remain as non-executive chairman of Thomas Crosbie Holdings Ltd and Examiner Publications (Cork) Ltd when these positions are vacated by Mr Ted Crosbie and Mr George Crosbie at the next a.g.m of both companies.
Mr Crosbie said in 1994 the circulation of the Examiner newspaper was 52,000 copies a day; whereas now the figure was 64,000 copies. In 1995 Examiner Publications reported a profit of £200,000 (€254,129) whereas last year the profit total was £6 million.
