Cafés: Only 10 days after the launch of the first Barnie's coffee and tea outlet at Dublin's Westmoreland Street, preparations are under way to open three more at Eason's bookstores in O'Connell Street and Nassau Street and Clerys in O'Connell Street.
Businesswoman Lorraine Sweeney, who has acquired the Barnie's franchise from the American owners, plans to open 30 coffee shops around the country .
Turnover in the Westmoreland Street café has exceeded expectations as new customers try out regular, decaffeinated and flavoured coffees as well as a huge range of other drinks.
Ms Sweeney says they are filling a gap in the market in a changing Ireland. Customers clearly want to be able to avail of a wide range of coffees and teas in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Ms Sweeney first came across the Barnie's concept while shopping at Macey's department store in New York last year.
