Hairdresser for South Anne St

Lisney says it has secured close to the quoting rent of €90,000 for an Irish Life-owned retail building at 2 South Anne Street, Dublin 2.

Despite the crowded ladies hairdressing market in the city centre, Keville Hairdressing plans to open a new business in the 225sq m (2,422sq ft) building only two doors off Grafton Street. Four of the five floors will be put into retail use by Alan Keville who has travelled widely as the international creative director for an Italian manufacturer of hair colour, hair care and styling products.

Most retailers moving into the city centre are managing to negotiate significant discounts on rents because of the fall off in business and the move to end upwards-only rent reviews.

UK discount chain for Ilac

The UK-based discount chain 99p has struck an attractive deal with the owners of the Ilac Centre in Dublin where it is to open the first of 60 outlets planned for Ireland.

The trader is to pay an overall rent of €150,000 to include service charge, rates and insurance for a store of 557sq m (6,000sq ft) and an overhead store of 371sq m (4,000sq ft).

The British trader plans to open six further outlets before Christmas with terms already agreed for a shop in the newly opened Millfield shopping centre in Balbriggan.

The company is being advised by Carberry Chartered Surveyors.

€0.5m for D8 service building

HT Meagher O’Reilly is quoting a selling price of €500,000 or a rent of €30,000 per annum for a former An Post delivery service building at James’s Street in Dublin 8 (pictured). The building has a floor area of 553sq m (5,900sq ft), an enclosed rear yard of 554sq m (5,963sq ft) and it adjoins the St James’s Gate Brewery.
