THE LUXURY cosmetics brand Kiehl’s is to open its first Irish store on Dublin’s Wicklow Street towards the end of June. The company has rented a ground floor shop of 69sq m (750sq ft) with a further 29sq m (314sq ft) at basement level. The shop was used by Jaguar earlier this year to launch its new XJ model.

Kiehl’s was established in New York in 1851 and is part of the L’Oreal group. It is best known for its skincare products, some of which have not been available in Ireland up to now.

James Hardy of Jones Lang LaSalle, who acted for the landlord, said the decision by Kiehl’s to open in one of the busiest shopping areas of the city reinforced the street’s position as one of the main contemporary and stylish retail enclaves in Dublin.

Jones Lang LaSalle also announced that an opportunity for retailers to trade alongside Kiehl’s will be coming on the market in the next six weeks as The Bagel Factory has decided not to renew its lease of 33 Wicklow Street. The unit has a ground floor area of 48sq m (520sq ft) and a basement with 20sq m (220sq ft). The rent will be €70,000 per annum.

Champion Sports moves in

CHAMPIONS SPORTS has taken over the former Adams store at City Square shopping centre in Waterford. The company will be paying a base rent of €130,000 plus 9 per cent of the turnover – an arrangement that should lead to an overall rent of about €180,000 for owners Bank of Ireland Asset Management. The shop has a ground floor area of 185sq m (2,000sq ft) and 92sq m (1,000sq ft) of storage.

Simon Plunkett of DNG Commercial, who acted for the landlords, has also agreed rental terms on the remaining vacant shop in the centre.

D2 letting at 215 per sq m

CJ POWER Systems has taken a lease on the second floor of Herbert House, off Grand Canal Street in Dublin 2.

The company is thought to be paying over €215 per sq m (€20 per sq ft) for a suite of 418sq m (4,500sq ft) under a 10-year lease with a break option in year five.

Nicholas Corson of Finnegan Menton, who handled the letting, is marketing the ground floor of 390sq m (4,200sq ft) which is fully fitted and includes a board room.
