Work to start on Donegal plan
Construction is to begin this November on the first phase of a model holiday village at Rossnowlagh in Co Donegal. Around €5 million is to be spent at this stage on developing a surf school, hostel and shop in one of Ireland's foremost surfing destinations.
A subsidiary company of Harcourt Developments, along with local business interests, is to carry out the initial work which will include provision for a restaurant and commercial units. A second building will have six apartments, a coffee shop, convenience store and an outdoor patio area.
Two further phases of the development will include a village green, craft centres and other amenities involving an overall investment of around €75 million by the Rossnowlagh Amenities Association.
Keith Anderson of Anderson Estate Agents, who is responsible for marketing the facility, said the model village would become the centre for sustainable tourism related projects and activities in an area where watersports had been popular for over 40 years.
