IN SHORT:NATIONWIDE UK (Ireland), has agreed a rent of €58,000 for its first Irish high street branch which will open next month at 13 Merrion Row in Dublin 2. The two-storey building has a floor area of 103sq m (1,108sq ft) and is located between Segreto and Bang cafe. The lease will run for 10 years.
Part of the world’s largest building society, Nationwide UK employs 21 people at its Spencer Dock offices in Dublin’s IFSC, where it operates a dedicated account-opening and customer service centre. Brendan Synnott, managing director of the Irish company said the opening of the branch was a direct response to a growing demand from customers for a face-to-face service.
A spokesman for the company said it had no immediate plans to open additional branches but based on customer demand at the new branch, it “may look to replicate this model in the future in other major cities around the country”. Colliers International advised Nationwide on the letting.
Former salon for rent
Natalie Brennan of CB Richard Ellis is quoting a rent of €140,000 for the former beauty salon Nue Blue Eriu, above, which is located at South William Street, Dublin 2. The well located building near the junction with Wicklow Street has a floor area of 252sq m (2,712sq ft) and basement storage of 77sq m (828sq ft). Brennan says she expects strong interest in the premises, which will undoubtedly appeal to various food and restaurant operators. The South William Street area is extremely popular because of its wide selection of restaurants and bars.
Aercap flies to West Park
AERCAP, the aviation company with a leading market position in aircraft and engine leasing, has moved its Irish office to a 1,486sq m (15,995sq ft) facility on the West Park Business Campus at Shannon Airport.
The company's portfolio consists of 338 aircraft and 88 engines that are either owned, or order, under contract or letter of intent.
Michele McGarry of Colliers International handled the letting for the 40-acre campus which expects to eventually have 100,000sq m (1,076,390sq ft) of high-end commercial office space and state-of-the-art facilities.
Holland & Barrett expanding
THE HEALTH food specialists Holland & Barrett plan to open several new stores in the Republic over the coming year. Recent openings include Ashbourne, Tralee, Thurles and Omni Park shopping centre in Dublin.
Keith Ruane of Colliers International says the company, which specialises in herbal remedy homeopathic and nature-based medicinal products, also plans to open shops in Navan, Killarney, Ennis, Clonmel, Patrick Street in Cork and Liffey Valley shopping centre in west Dublin.
