DevelopmentLand:With housebuilders still keen to assemble well located sites for future development, there is likely to be good interest in nine acres of housing land which has just come on the market in Rathangan, Co Kildare.
Will Coonan of Coonan Real Estate Alliance is suggesting a price of over €9 million for the site which is to go to tender on April 19th.
Villages like Rathangan, which are within commuting distance of Dublin, have become particularly popular in recent years with commuters who cherish a country lifestyle alongside facilities such as schools, churches, shopping and restaurants.
The Rathangan site is, in fact, close to the local national school, as well as sporting facilities provided by the nearby GAA club.
Whoever buys the site is likely to get planning permission for at least 10 houses per acre.
The village is located on the Grand Canal, 30 miles from Dublin and 10 miles north of Newbridge.
Kildare County Council's development strategy for the village is to "consolidate" it as a service centre for west Kildare.
The development plan says that "the town must offer living and working conditions, educational, recreational and cultural opportunities of the highest standard in an attractive urban environment".
Rathangan also falls within the area covered by the Dublin Transportation Initiative.
