IRELAND’S NEWEST radio station, 4FM, which is on air from Friday week, has unveiled its new headquarters next door to the Radisson SAS Royal Hotel on Golden Lane in Dublin 8.
It is reached off South Great George’s Street, at the rear of the new headquarters of Dunnes Stores.
The multi-city radio service will operate from the top floor of Latin Hall, a newly built five-storey block developed by Galway businessman Padraig Rhatigan. The radio station will be paying a rent of €495 per sq m (€46 per sq ft) for 464sq m (5,000sq ft) and €3,500 for car-parking spaces. The 20-year lease provides for a break option in year 11. Around a €1 million has been spent on fitting out four high-tech studios and office suites where a staff of 40 will be based.
Martin Block, CEO of 4FM, said the new headquarters would be a “real showcase” for what he believed could become one of the most successful radio stations in the country.
When 4FM begins broadcasting next week to Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Clare it promises to play “the widest selection of music available on radio in Ireland today”.
The Irish Times Ltd, publisher of The Irish Times, owns 10 per cent of the 4FM consortium. Four other groups each hold 22.25 per cent.
They are: Fox Radio Ltd, owned by brothers Martin and Howard Block, and Al Dunne; Thomas Crosbie Holdings, publisher of the Irish Examiner; Vienna Investments led by Dermot Hanrahan and the former owners of FM 104; and Bay Broadcasting, owned by businessmen Mike Ormond, Kevin Branigan and Thomas Anderson. The remaining 1 per cent is held by solicitor Dr Mary Redmond, 4FM chairman.
Sandra McHale of HT Meagher O’Reilly handled the letting.
