Domino’s Pizza is to create 650 new jobs across its network of 86 stores in Ireland covering a range of roles including management, in-store pizza making and delivery. The new roles are on top of 350 positions that it filled earlier this year.
The recruitment drive has been launched to coincide with its busiest time of year in the run up to Christmas with next Friday night set to be the key delivery day of 2021 with tens of thousands of people likely to order take out as they settle down in front of the television to watch the Late Late Toy Show on RTE 1.
The Friday night of the Toy Show last year was the busiest night of the year with the pizza maker anticipating similarly strong sales this week.
It is going all in on Christmas 2021 having launched its first Christmas pizza which features turkey marinated in sage and onion sage as one of the toppings while a suitably festive ad is set to follow later this week.
Once the new positions are filled, Domino’s will employ close to 3,000 people in both the Republic and Northern Ireland with the chief executive of the Irish operation Scott Bush stressing that the company is keen to offer people enduring careers rather than short-term employment.
He pointed out that he started out as a Domino’s driver almost 20 years ago before becoming a store manager and then a store owner and most recently the chief executive in Ireland.
“Taking a job at Domino’s can lead to all sorts of opportunities,” he said. “I started in the business as a driver in Australia 18 years ago and worked my way up to store manager, then franchisee consultant, before becoming a franchisee and eventually owning a number of stores as a multi-unit operator in Australia, New Zealand and the UK before taking on my current role.”
Mr Bush said Domino’s was “committed to opening new stores in Ireland and we know there is appetite among our Irish franchisees to do so too. We just opened our most recent store in Liffey Valley and have two more nearly ready to open their doors”.
It has plans to open an additional 10 stores over the next two years. “We’re not rushing this process though and our priority continues to be providing top service and quality food from each of our existing stores,” he said.
