Thinking of taking out a subscription to your favourite mag? A host of major British magazine titles, from Loaded to Country Life, may be up for grabs after Reed Elsevier announced it was considering putting its publisher, IPC Magazines, on the market.
Reed is currently in the process of sorting out a link-up with Dutch firm, Wolters Kluwer, and the consumer-orientated titles are outside the business, professional and scientific information focus which the new firm would be aiming for. However, any sale will not include the weekly New Scientist title.
IPC's stable of 70 includes NME, Mizz, TV Times, Woman, Horse & Hound as well as Marie Claire which is published through a joint venture. We're not sure whether share holders will get a cut off the subscription price.
