PulseLearning, an e-learning software business based in Tralee, Co Kerry, has been recognised as the fastest growing technology company in the State with revenue growth of 2,839 per cent over the last five years. John Collinsreports.
The company won first prize in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 awards, which were presented in Dublin's Mansion House last night. The runner-up was Dublin and London-listed mobile services provider Zamano which achieved growth of 1,998.5 per cent since 2002.
Digiweb, the Dundalk broadband provider finished third, security specialist Espion fourth and Newsweaver, the Cork e-mail newsletter specialist was ranked fifth. In the rising star category, which recognises younger companies with the fastest growth in the past three years, Daft Media, which operates the Daft.ie property website was the Republic's representative, with Stirk Lamont Associates, a multinational technology consultancy, representing Northern Ireland.
PulseLearning was founded in 1999 by Jim Breen in one of his children's bedrooms at his Tralee home. The firm is now valued at €30 million and includes NASA, Dell, Pfizer, Philips, Schering-Plough, Bank of America and CA among its clients.
It specialises in providing customised training software to companies operating in highly regulated environments so that they can demonstrate compliance.
The courses are provided using a variety of equipment such as PCs and laptops, iPods, mobile phones and online.
The Fast 50 programme has been running in Ireland for eight years and ranks the fastest-growing technology companies in the Republic and Northern Ireland. There were 15 companies from Northern Ireland in the ranking this year and the average annual growth rate of all 50 companies was 497 per cent.
