If you have ever wondered how your company pension fund manager stacks up against the competition, the BCP Stockbrokers 1999 Pension Investment Manager Report is just the ticket. The report includes a "pension managed fund performance table" and details on all the main pension fund managers.
The 14 managers reviewed are Allied Irish Banks Investment Managers, Bank of Ireland Asset Management, Canada Life, Eagle Star, Friends First, Guardian, Hibernian Investment Managers, Irish Life Investment Managers, New Ireland, Norwich Union Investment Management, Progressive Life, Scottish Provident, Standard Life, and Ulster Bank Investment Management. Although Equitable Life is included in the ranking table, it did not wish to participate in the detailed survey.
Eagle Star ranked first in the one, three and five-year "annualised returns to December 31st, 1998" categories with 24.92, 25.82 and 18.99 per cent respectively.
Over the year the two main factors influencing the management of Irish pension funds were the introduction of the euro and the popularity of Consensus/Index Tracking Funds.
