Analogue Devices, a maker of computer chips which transform sound and video into digital data, has reported a rise in fourth-quarter earnings of 164 per cent, galloping past Wall Street expectations.

In addition, the company, which employs 1,300 people at a plant in Limerick and which is planning a new design centre in Cork, said it expected to post sharply higher revenues and earnings for the first quarter of fiscal 2000.
