SOME 60 new jobs are to be created by Irish-owned security and alarm company Alarm Control 24.

The firm, which is based in Sandyford in south Dublin, employs 22 people.

It operates a long-range radio telemetry network, an innovative form of alarm technology which is resistent to GSM blocking technology.

GSM technology is increasingly being used by criminals to deactivate alarms by disrupting mobile phone signals that are used by many alarm systems to communicate with monitoring bases.

The new jobs, which are being announced today, are part of a €3 million investment by the company in a new monitoring centre at its Sandyford site.

About half of the new jobs will be created within two years, while the company will add an additional 20 to 30 jobs from 2014.

According to Derek Mooney, director of Alarm Control 24, the jobs will be mainly specialised radio engineer positions, though the company is also expanding its monitoring staff team.

Mr Mooney said further jobs could be created indirectly by security companies which adopt the new technology for their clients.

Alarm Control 24 is a sister-company of Action Security Systems, and Irish security company founded in 1985.

Alarm Control 24 supplies alarm and security systems to businesses, home-owners and security companies across the country.

Clients’ alarm systems are linked to their Dublin-based control centre.

The company’s long-range radio telemetry network uses a form of wireless technology developed by KP Radio Systems which is used around the word.

Alarm Monitor 24 is the only company to offer KP radio systems technology in Ireland. It also has its own radio telemetry network, licensed by Comreg.
