Bray company Nypro Healthcare, which completely changed its business from electronics to medical devices four years ago, has announced the creation of 100 new jobs.

Nypro’s workforce will expand to 460 people according to the announcement made yesterday by the Taoiseach Enda Kenny. It has added another 160 jobs to its workforce this year.

Mr Kenny described Nypro as a “brilliant company”, the type of medium-sized enterprise that could help Ireland out of its present difficulties.

The company is involved in the development and manufacture of complex high-growth inhalation and injectable drug delivery devices.

Its Irish clients include eight of the 10 largest global pharmaceutical companies.

The Taoiseach said he was “very struck” by what had been achieved in Nypro as the company changed from being a company based on electronics to one making medical devices.

“This will create the Ireland of the future. In many cases, we underestimate our own ability to compete on the world stage,” he said.

Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Investment Richard Bruton, who also attended the announcement, said Nypro Healthcare was at the “very soul” of what the Government was trying to achieve as an economy. He said it had been “some achievement” for the Bray facility to persuade its parent company to base its first and only development centre in Bray.
