An announcement is expected shortly that Indigo's former general manager, Mr Mark Beggs, will shortly be appointed general manager of Eircom Internet service providers Indigo and Eircom.net.
The Irish Times has learned Mr Beggs will also take responsibility for Eircom.net's activities.
It is understood that Mr Fintan Lawlor, former Eircom.net general manager, will move to a role focusing on Eircom's overall Internet infrastructure. He will be involved in planning internal and external business strategies. Mr Lawlor has been general manager of Eircom.net, formerly TInet, for the past two years.
Mr Beggs is expected to focus Indigo's business on commercial customers, while Eircom.net will continue to concentrate on residential customers.
In one of his last public engagements as general manager of Eircom.net, Mr Lawlor officiated at Ireland's first Internet Advertising Awards in the Mansion House, Dublin, on Thursday night.
Two Dublin-based web design companies, Webfactory and Labyrinth, dominated the event, scooping seven of the 11 awards.
The overall Eircom and IMJ/ Adworld-sponsored awards went to Webfactory for best overall use of the Web, and Labyrinth for most innovation in demonstrating the effectiveness of the online medium for marketing or advertising.
