Esat Digifone has introduced a new credit card for its customers which allows them to earn cash with every purchase made.
The loyalty card is a new concept in Ireland and effectively entitles customers to a rebate of 1 per cent of the purchase price on each item purchased using this credit card. Customers will receive monthly statements detailing the amount of money they have generated over that period and any money earned will be credited to each customer's account after a year.
The 1 per cent loyalty bonus is a special introductory rate and will drop to 0.5 of 1 per cent after the first year. Card holders will have to pay a rate of interest of 20.9 per cent (APR). Anyone who wants to switch from their existing credit card to the Digifone one will be offered a more attractive rate of interest of 13.9 per cent (APR) for the first six months.
There is no account fee for the first year and fees in successive years will be waived if the card is used more than 50 times.
Meanwhile, Eircell has recently established a link with Visa, where customers can generate cash to offset part of their monthly phone bill, when the card is used in specific outlets. Under the scheme, Eircell customers generate points, up to 15 per cent of the price of items purchased from any of the 25 participants.
