Background: He and his business partner built the insurance and investment brokerage known as Savings and Investments which he sold in the late 1980s to Woodchester. He left Woodchester in 1991 to concentrate on opportunities in the aviation sector and set up CityJet in 1994.
Education: Born in Bray, Co Wicklow, he was educated by the Presentation Brothers. On leaving school his first job was in banking.
