Irish telecommunications company Stentor has announced that it has installed its first fibre optic network in Shannon, and has applied to lay another network in Dublin.
The company has applied to Dublin Corporation to lay a fibre ring from its premises in Grand Canal Street to the IFSC, on to the East Point Business Park, and back to its premises via Beaumont and Phibsboro.
The company was awarded a licence to install telecommunications infrastructure by the Office of the Director of Telecommunications Regulator last month, which permits it to establish a telecommunications network. Other companies which have been awarded such licences over the past few months include Esat Telecom, WorldCom, NTL, Unisource, Cablelink, and Cable & Wireless.
