Jonathan McMahon, a former senior figure at the Central Bank, has joined accountancy firm Mazars. Mr McMahon was head of financial institutions at the Central Bank. He oversaw the stress tests of the banks last year, and worked closely with the troika of the European Central Bank, the EU Commission and the IMF on plans to resolve the banking crisis. Mazars was one of the firms that worked on last year’s banking stress tests.

Mr McMahon is taking up the position of global head of bank regulation and restructuring at the firm and will be advising financial services clients on how to deal with the regulatory and business model changes following the financial crisis.

Originally from Sheffield, Mr McMahon previously worked at the Financial Services Authority and Deloitte in London, where he specialised in banking and financial sector issues.

As well as banking stress tests, Mr McMahon worked on the deleveraging plan for the banks, on the introduction of the new Central Bank Act and on the enhanced supervision of the credit union sector.
