Frankfurt DAX: 4071.79 (-14.22) Shares slumped to fresh losses in post Bourse trading. The market was hurt by the dollar falling below 1.82 marks on the back of a rise in west German monthly inflation data.
Limited volumes kept dealings volatile as the DAX failed to find support. German bourses were reluctant to chase prices back up in line with New York's Friday close, fearing that Wall Street's wobbles may mark the high-water mark of the bull run.
Paris CAC-40: 2,898.57 (-5.66) French shares finished slightly lower yesterday after tracking an uneven early performance on Wall Street. The market turned lower after an upward revision in German industrial production and a rise in the west German preliminary consumer price index for August knocked the dollar and stoked expectations of a German interest rate rise.
Mibtel: 14,282 (+0.5) Italian shares closed near the day's highs, paring earlier losses as US shares rose at the opening. Business was slower than usual because London's financial markets were shut for a holiday, forcing investors to take their cue from Wall Street once again.
