Furze may have been a leading figure in the Dunnes tribunal, but judging by the local media coverage in the Cayman Islands of his death, the tribunal did not feature very much in Mr Furze's life.
The only reference in the Caymanian Compass to Mr Furze's links with Ireland and payments to politicians was a brief reference to his involvement in setting up the Cayman operation of Guinness & Mahon in 1991. Not a mention of Des Traynor, and certainly no mention of Charles Haughey.
Mr Furze was, however, a keen Rotarian and, according to the IT]Compass, was a longstanding freemason "and held positions of import in the organisation".
