The Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin underwent major changes over the bank holiday weekend when 28 new bedrooms were installed. Each bedroom weighed 8.5 tons and cost £28,500. They were put into place in one of Dublin's biggest lifting projects in recent years. All of the prefabricated bedrooms were manufactured in Dublin.
The crane lift was part of a £3.5 million project involving the construction of the 28 bedrooms and a health and fitness centre at the Shelbourne. The project will mean that parent company Forte has invested over £6 million in the Shelbourne in the past two years.
The new general manager for the Shelbourne, Mr Jean Ricoux, took up his appointment at the end of last week.
