The ICC Bank solicitor was ordered by the High Court yesterday to make himself available for examination in relation to the affairs of a Co Roscommon firm in liquidation.

The official liquidator of Mantruck Services Ltd, Mr David F Mehigan, claims documents suggest that over a number of years the ICC had dealings regarding a property at Farnbeg, Strokestown, Co Roscommon which "had a common object of seeking to ensure the property remained under the effective control of John Duignan in whichever of his companies was not, for the time being, in liquidation or in immediate danger of going into liquidation".

Ms Justice Laffoy ordered that the ICC solicitor, Mr John Larney, attend before the Master of the High Court to answer questions in relation to a loan made by ICC Bank to another company, Manton and Company, and secured on the property at Farnbeg.

In an affidavit, Mr Mehigan said he was appointed official liquidator of Mantruck in 1993 but had considerable difficulty investigating the company's affairs because of the absence of books and records.
