An online service aimed at the business sector was launched yesterday by IFG Technology and Development, a subsidiary of the financial services group, IFG.

BusinessGOLD offers a range of information services on companies in Britain and Ireland. Along with Companies Office information and Irish Trade Protection Association judgments, the service gives Financial Times Information's Extel data on more than 14,000 quoted companies, Dun and Bradstreet business analysis and the Dialog Corporation's articles, reports and stocks and shares database.

The initiative follows the success of the online legal service, LawLink, which ITG bought into four years ago. That service, which is 30 per cent owned by the Law Society, now has almost 400 legal firms as clients, according to Mr Andrew Frazer, ITG Technology and Development's managing director.

Mr Frazer said that he hoped to link with NCB Stockbrokers directly to provide up-to-date information on the Irish Stock Exchange. He added that he expected the service would be launched in Britain, following the introduction of LawLink there. BusinessGOLD also offers Interface's and Company Formations' information service on Irish companies, Business & Finance's `Live Business News' and RM's service on registered British companies.
