Strencom agrees €500,000 deal with Alliance Medical
Strencom, the data network and cloud computing provider, has won a €500,000 deal to provide a private cloud and wide area network to Alliance Medical.
This will enable Alliance Medical and its supplier, Agfa Healthcare, to improve collaboration between referring doctors, reporting consultant radiologists and clinical staff, with accelerated diagnosis and treatment for patients.
Programme for internet firms
Enterprise Ireland and the Internet Growth Alliance are to run a second six-month programme for Irish internet businesses to fast-track their firms. Applications can be made until September 6th through alliance.ie. The programme will be led by entrepreneur Brian Caulfield.
O2 in student sign-up offer
Third-level students can sign up for mobile broadband from O2 for just €10 a month following a deal between the mobile operator and HEAnet, the national education network. Students can sign up for the service, which has a 10GB monthly allowance, at any O2 retail store.
Nokia to close its Ovi Files service
Nokia has decided to close down its Ovi Files service that allows consumers to access their computer data remotely, the worlds top mobile phone maker said in an e-mail to users of the service.
“Nokia is discontinuing the Ovi Files service, effective October 1st, 2010,” the company said.
Nokia started to build its own internet services offering in 2007, but has ramped down several unsuccessful products lately. Nokia built the Ovi Files service, which allows users to access files on their computers from any remote computer through the internet, on top of its 2007 acquisition of US firm Avvenu. – (Reuters)
