New chairman for Skyscanner.net
Ray Nolan, the technology executive who founded online accommodation booking company Web Reservations International and sold it last year for over €200 million, has been appointed chairman of flight comparison site Skyscanner.net.
Flight search engine Skycanner recently reported revenues of £3.5 million for a single quarter and is looking to expand into new markets.
Gap delivery service extended to Ireland
Gap has extended its dedicated European e-commerce site to cover deliveries to Ireland. Available at gap.eu and Bananarepublic.eu, products are priced in sterling and are shipped to Ireland from a British distribution centre within two to three days for an introductory flat fee of £6 (€6.88). Gap said it plans to add the capability to shop in euro early next year.
Dial2Do wins New Service award
Dublin software firm Dial2Do has won the best new service award at the 2010 Broadband InfoVision Awards, for its HandsFree Assistant product which allows users to do tasks such e-mail and texting on their smartphones while driving, using voice commands.
“We are tremendously proud to have received this honour which is a true validation of the value of our innovative HandsFree Assistant service,” said Ivan MacDonald, Dial2Do chief executive. “People want to be able to stay connected at all times, particularly those who spend significant daily business time in their vehicles.”
