Worldwide product revenue at Computer Associates rose by 13 per cent to $1.3 billion (€1.39 billion) for the quarter to December 31st, 2000.

Total revenue at the company, which employs 25 people in Dublin, rose 5 per cent to $1.4 billion for the quarter. Operating income for the quarter was up 28 per cent from the previous year's fiscal quarter to $247 million.

Third-quarter operating earnings per share, exclusive of acquisitions and exceptionals, increased by 31 per cent to 42 US cents. The results beat analysts' consensus earnings per share estimates by two cents, said Computer Associates.

For the nine months to December 31st, revenue increased by 7 per cent to $4.125 billion.
