The Margin was delighted to see Michael Campbell, director general of RGDATA, the umbrella group for independent retailers get his just reward - Person of the Year. The award was made by Checkout Ireland magazine. Michael, a thorn in the side of the multiples, especially Tesco, was given the accolade for his "passion and commitment" to the independent grocery sector.

But what's this? Checkout Ireland is circulated to all RGDATA members, cash and carrys, off-licences and forecourts, as well as leading symbol and multiple groups. A popular choice, no doubt!
