Internet body to hold `teckie brekkie' seminar

The Irish Internet Association is hosting a "Teckie Brekkie" breakfast seminar on inferior quality cryptography next Tuesday

The Irish Internet Association is hosting a "Teckie Brekkie" breakfast seminar on inferior quality cryptography next Tuesday. As part of its breakfast series, this session, entitled "Cryptographic Snake Oil" compares today's poor examples of cryptography with the practices of turn-of-the-century quack medics. Cure-all promises that deliver poor remedies to security problems will be the central theme.

Mr William Whyte, senior cryptographer with Baltimore Technologies, will discuss the latest thinking on cryptography, outlining cases of bad cryptography and the need for more than simply good encryption to ensure a strong security product.

The seminar will take place in Bewley's on Grafton Street, Dublin, at 7.45am. The event is free to IIA members and £10 to non-members. To register, e-mail: events@iia.ie
