Star Media, a Tralee-based electronic images company, has had £650,000 invested in it by the ACT Enterprise Fund in return for a 25 per cent stake in the company. The new business, under the name Stockpix, produces royalty-free photographic images on CD-Rom for use by graphic designers, advertising agencies, publishers and printers.

They replace the traditional photographic libraries which charge for each time an image is used.
