This is a selection of some of the different tracker bonds available on the market. 4Sight Bond: Offered by Liberty Asset Management with Bank of Scotland Ireland. Minimum Investment: £5,000. Closing Date: 16th March, 2001. Term: Five years. The bond is based on the DJ Stoxx indices for four different areas of the European market.

The four sectors are banking, healthcare, technology and utilities, with an equal 25 per cent of the bond in each sector. 4Sight Bonds are offered in two formats. The growth option gives 100 per cent of the potential growth of the index with 90 per cent capital security.

The maximum profit is 100 per cent.

The security option gives 70 per of the growth with 100 per cent capital security. The maximum return is 70 per cent. Euroland Series 2: An Ulster Bank offering that is beginning a second series. Minimum investment: £5,000. Closing date: 12th April, 2001. Term: Two years. Euroland provides 90 per cent capital protection at the end of two years, which is a shorter term than most tracker bonds. Early withdrawals are not permitted.

Investors can earn up to 15 per cent gross each year with a maximum return of 30 per cent gross over the term. In the event of the sum of the annual index returns being negative, the maximum loss that will apply is 10 per cent. AIB Secure Tracker Fund: AIB offers this through its insurance company, Ark Life. Minimum Investment: £5,000. Closing Date: End of March. Term: Five years and six months.

Linked to the Eurostoxx 50 Index, the Secure Tracker Fund offers a potential return equal to the rise in the index over the period, subject to a maximum return of 50 per cent.

There is a 100 per cent capital guarantee. The averaging clause is six months.

Secure Global Bond: This is First Active's first tracker bond of the year. Minimum Investment: £3,000. Closing date: 13th March, 2001. Term: Three or five years.

The Secure Global Bond is linked to the Eurostoxx 50, FTSE 100, Nikkei-225 and US S&P 500 stock market indices. The bond secures the investor's capital and offers a choice of two investment options. Option one allows the investor to participate in 50 per cent gross of the potential growth of the indices over a three-year investment term.

Option two allows the investor to participate in 75 per cent gross of the potential growth of the indices over a five-year investment term.
