Irish-made pizzas are among a new range of produce being aimed at the British consumer in a new volume sales drive in 560 Tesco outlets. The four-week promotion of produce, which also includes dairy spreads, pet food, biscuits, meat and mineral water, is aimed at increasing sales by £10 million, and was launched by the Minister for Agriculture and Food, Mr Walsh.
He said that Irish companies already supplied over £400 million worth of produce a year to Tesco. The chief executive of Tesco, Mr Terry Leahy, said his company was working with Forbairt and An Bord Bia to ensure that Irish suppliers met growing consumer demand for quality and value.
