Irish companies seeking risk capital in the US are now having better success that the Silicon Valley-type start-ups, said the Cross Atlantic CEO. "In Ireland there is still a start-up mentality that we used to see in the United States, i.e. people will borrow money on their second mortgages, that kind of thing, to get companies going, and by the time they bring them to an institutional investor like us they have already proven that there is a product and a market. The company is usually more mature, and we're coming in a little later in their life so the risks are less.
