Irish information technology services firm Version 1 says it will create at least 80 new jobs over the next 18 months, bringing total staff levels to 250. It also expects turnover for this year to increase by 50 per cent to €15 million.
Managing director Justin Keatinge said the growth was a combination of winning new customers and availing of new opportunities created from the formation of two new divisions devoted to business and infrastructure consulting.
The jobs will be created at Version 1's Dublin offices. The company also employs staff who work from home in the Republic and other European countries.
Mr Keatinge said the company tried to increase revenue by 30 per cent annually but looked set to exceed that this year. The firm had a turnover of €3.5 million in the first quarter.
"We are now winning market share off the large multinationals," he said. "Once you reach a certain scale, a lot of customers prefer to deal with an Irish supplier."
Version 1 was founded in 1996, has not had any external funding and is privately held by the company directors.
Mr Keatinge said 95 per cent of its business was in the Republic with the remainder in the UK.
It is particularly strong in the public sector, with more than 40 per cent of its business with government departments, local authorities and State agencies.
