Lachlan Murdoch, who resigned last month from his executive roles at his father Rupert Murdoch's media and entertainment group News Corp, has registered a new company in Australia.
According to a filing with the Australian Securities and Investments Commission, Mr Murdoch began the process of setting up Illyria Pty Ltd on August 3rd, just three days after announcing his resignation. The company became fully registered on Monday.
Lachlan Murdoch, 33, is named as company director and secretary on the registration forms for Illyria.
There is no information on what Mr Murdoch intends to do with the company. On resigning from News Corp, he said it was time to apply elsewhere the lessons he had learnt working for his father's group.
However, his options within the media and entertainment industry are limited: he signed a two-year non-compete clause as part of his severance package.
The Murdoch family have strongly denied speculation of a rift between father and son.
Lachlan Murdoch has retained his seat on the board of Delaware-based News Corp, and relations are still strong enough for him to list News Corp's Sydney headquarters as the principal place of business for Illyria.
