Against a background of considerable publicity surrounding Linux, the free operating system that's threatening to topple Microsoft's market dominance, a public demonstration of it will no doubt be appreciated by those who feel they are missing the plot.

Tomorrow NUI, Galway, in association with the Irish Linux Users Group and Intersocs Ireland - the association of third-level computer societies of Ireland - will present a Linux for Businesses demonstration as part of its Intersocs Conference 1998. The event, which is free, will take place at 3 p.m. in Aula Maxima at NUI, Galway, and one or two surprises have been promised on the day.
